(1916-90)
American novelist. Born in Chicago, he grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He studied at the Williams Institute, Berkeley, and Los Angeles City College. His novels include The Chapman Report, The Prize, The Word, The Fan Club, The Second Lady and The Miracle.
